  • Can I work with a partner?

    Posted by:

Yes, but you can only work with one partner. It is recommended that you plan carefully if working with a partner because the judges take into consideration how each partner contributed and how balanced your work was. It can also be very challenging to find enough time to get together to effectively complete a balanced project.

  • How large will the display space for my project be?

    Posted by:

Each Science Fair project will have about 3 feet of table top to display.  A tri-fold display board will fit nicely in this space. Please call the curriculm office with any unique space concerns.

  • Can I stay with my child?

    Posted by:

All parents must leave the judging floor before 9:00 a.m. Feel free to settle your child in, and then proceed to the lobby. Thank you for vacating the judging area promptly when the judges and staff come out and request families leave their children. If your child forgot something, please find a staff member in the Alden lobby to help you deliver it. Parents will not be allowed to go back in. But rest assured, there are lots of adults near your children at all times and they can ask any adult staff member or judge for help if they have a question or a problem. Also, we make every effort to have the Chandler children judged very quickly and back to you in short order.

  • What should I do while my child is being judged?

    Posted by:

The Alden/Chandler PTAs will have refreshments available for purchase in the Alden lobby. Rooms along the school committee wing are open and you are free to sit in there to wait. It is not recommended that you leave the school as many children, especially younger ones, are done quite early, and it is unsettling to them when you are not there to meet them when the judges escort them to the lobby.

  • My child has a sports event at 11:00 on Saturday. Can you guarantee judging by 10:30?

    Posted by:

Although sometimes students are fully judged earlier in the morning, we cannot guarantee that a student will be fully judged at a particular time.  With over 200 entries and dozens of judges, it is an undertaking to get all the projects assigned to three different judges and then judged.  If you have another committment, please make a choice about whether you will be available to particpate in the science fair.  Thank you for your understanding.
