Reading at Chandler
Superintendent's Letter
This year promises to be a very productive year for our students’ learning. Our teachers and administrators have been busy attending professional development throughout the summer. Workshops on math, and student engagement as well as technology integration took place.

Numerous physical plant improvements were addressed, especially at the elementary schools. Both Chandler and Alden have been outfitted with security cameras and the wireless improvements have been completed. Much needed new cafeteria and presentation equipment have been installed in Chandler.

The district is embarking on Professional Learning Communities, a self-directed professional development process, in all four schools for our teachers. The administrative team participated in training from the DuFour Group, which has the most recognized experience in PLCs. All of our teachers will be participating in PLCs focusing on student learning throughout the year.

Because of the PLCs, the secondary schools will be incorporating two “iLabs” per week. Forty-minute periods will be embedded into our school day, twice per week. Beside teachers working together during this time, students will have time to complete schoolwork, meet with guidance and other necessary tasks to continue in our efforts to reduce student stress.

As always, we are thankful for the support of our school community and town.
